Instrumental Music

General information:

Students in grades 4-6 may participate in the instrumental music program. I encourage learning a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument, as there are more opportunities to keep playing these in middle school and high school. Instruments to choose from include clarinet, flute, alto or tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, snare drum, and mallet percussion. I also offer lessons on violin and guitar. Most instrument lessons take place in school in the afternoon, or after school before the second bus. Instrumental students perform in school concerts, either solo (alone) or in an ensemble (group).

Instruments can be rented from Ellis Music in Bethel, VT. If this is a financial hardship, let Ms. Barron or Mr. Corey know, and we will try to arrange a loaner instrument or some other way to make it possible.

The representative from Ellis Music visits Leicester on Fridays. If your instrument needs repair, cleaning, or if you are turning it in, let Ms. Barron know so she can make sure that the representative will come that week. Instruments that are going to Ellis should be left in Mrs. Randall's office.
