Brian Walsh

In 1989 I found my way into residential real estate and with the growth of the internet, it became what I know and love today. I seem to have been built for nearly all aspects of the business from problem solving to copywriting, systems to innovation, psychology to construction, multiple offers to stigmas and every nook and cranny in between.

For the first half of my career I pounded the streets in sales learning all of the critical details. In 1990 I bought my first computer, and started getting involved with innovative software while waiting for the day that a digital camera would become affordable. I was eternally curious and constantly seeking answers to my unending questions.

I obtained my broker's license and on Monday, September 2, 2002 opened the doors of I.K.I.C.D.I., Inc. (I Knew I Could Do It) doing business as RE/MAX Pros. A colleague from my old office helped me to develop an attractive commission plan and then I put together a website explaining the plan and what was included. Lastly, I advertised in the old (now gone) Cleveland Area Board of Realtors magazine to attract agents to the website.

The phone started ringing and agents started joining and within a reasonable period of time we became profitable. Agents stated that they joined us for the following reasons: fair treatment, superior technology, the commission plans, our reputation, support and the brand.

In 2007 we closed about 1,000 transaction sides and then came 2008-2011 and the infamous crash. It was difficult, but we all worked hard and in early 2012 the market came back. In 2014, RE/MAX went public and over time things changed making it tough for me to decide what to do when it came time for us to renew with them in 2017. I met with each agent individually and then decided it was time for a change.

After carefully considering all the options, we opted to go with HomeSmart for our new brand. They offered quality technology and their business model was very economical, making it easy to offer lucrative commission plans for our agents.

Since opening the company I have done my best to listen to our agents needs and wants and provide them. I believe that this is what made it into such a special place. I discovered that simplifying things is extremely important too, the systems and technology we use are what are essential in performing our tasks, there is no fluff or unnecessary extras. Our administrator is extremely reliable, friendly and competent and uses our systems to make processing of transactions predictable, orderly and accurate.

Our agents want a company that is modern, efficient, cooperative, affordable and appreciative. I enjoy being available to my people, whether it be taking a walk through a home that won't sell to offer my opinion, jumping in on a problem that needs solved, training our agents on how to use our technology or any of the myriad of things I do on a daily basis. I am so fortunate to have found this business let alone be associated with all the wonderful people that I work with!
