Student Advisory Council
The Honors Student Advisory Council (SAC) is led by students for the students. Together we plan fun and engaging activities that students are truly interested in. Some of our events have included behind the scene trips at the Pittsburgh Zoo, Phipps Conservatory, trips to the symphony, meeting the mayor and much more all upon request from YOU!
On campus we conduct many events as well. We have lunches with professors and round tables to discuss relevant current issues, all of which provide you opportunities to form connections with RMU faculty/staff and hear about their work. There is also the annual Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) where students present their thesis as well as any other interesting topics they have studied in their classes. SAC hosts the URC every year near the end of the spring semester highlighting students' work from across all disciplines of study. SAC helps to run the event to ensure things go smoothly for presenters.
Along with activities around campus, SAC also participates in Pink Feet. This is a fundraising competition between various local honor colleges in the Pittsburgh region. We compete to raise the most money for breast cancer awareness, with all of the proceeds being presented to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
SAC is here to provide you with support to learn and expand your cultural horizon through various events. So if there is something that interests you, bring it up at a meeting! If you are unable to come to a meeting or want more information about what we do, check out all the great activities SAC and Honors hosts each semester by reading the honors newsletter and blog.
