The Biomedical Engineering Society chapter of Robert Morris University strives to bring awareness and encourages engineering students to actively engage in emerging biomedical fields. BMES students who have already gained valuable internship experiences share what they have learned with their peers at meetings. The club also supports students traveling to professional meetings like the annual BMES Conference. Several BMES student have been accepted to showcase their undergraduate research at the annual conference.
Activities within the society include touring biomedical companies in the region, inviting guest speakers from the biomedical field, networking with regional BMES chapters and pursuing other opportunities based on student interests. Most importantly, RMU’s BMES chapter is actively contacting and building relationships with regional biomedical companies to improve opportunities for biomedical engineering students to gain internships and entry-level job placement.
BMES welcome all RMU students with an interest in biomedical technology and applications. Biomedical engineering is a unique multidisciplinary field, in that it encompasses all types of engineering and is very closely tied to biology and healthcare professions. We always welcome the perspective a different discipline can bring to our group. If interested in joining BMES, please contact our faculty adviser, Dr. Benjamin Campbell (firstname.lastname@example.org or 412.397.5474).
