Freedom Card Office
The Freedom Card is the official Robert Morris University photo identification card. All members of the University community - students, faculty and staff - are required to have one. Freedom cards are used to access online accounts at the RMU website, purchase meals, borrow books at the library, go to the fitness centers, get into campus events and more.
All freedom cards are the property of Robert Morris University and are not transferable. The card is governed by the policies and procedures of the University. Robert Morris University is not responsible for any expenses resulting from the loss, theft or misuse of the freedom card.
The Freedom Card Office is open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm., Monday - Friday. We are located in the lower level of Revere Center.
Obtaining a Freedom Card
All students, faculty and staff are required to have a Freedom Card. The first Freedom Card issued is free of charge. Visit the Freedom Card Office in Revere Center to receive your card. A drivers license, passport or another form of photo identification will be required.
Students that do not reside in the Pittsburgh area may obtain a non-photo "Distance Learning Freedom Card." Identity verification will be completed by having a Distance Learning Freedom Card Request Form notarized in the student's local area. The notarized request form should then be mailed to the Freedom Card Office at the below address:

If a distance learning student later comes on campus then they will have the option to convert their Distance Learning Freedom Card to a Photo Freedom Card by visiting the Freedom Card Office with photo identification.
Lost/Stolen Freedom Card
It is the card owner's responsibility to protect his/her Freedom Card. The cardholder must report a lost or stolen Freedom Card immediately. The cardholder is responsible for any account activity made prior to reporting the loss of the Freedom Card. In the event a card has been misplaced and cannot be found, it can be temporarily frozen or permanently deactivated by calling 412-397-5496 during normal business hours or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Temporarily Freeze a Card
A temporary freeze on the card will give the cardholder time to look for the lost card. No one will be able to use your meal plan or colonial cash while the card is frozen. When the card is found, it can be unfrozen by contacting the Freedom Card Office.
There is no charge to freeze or unfreeze a card.
Replace a Lost/Stolen Card
Other Replacement Cards
To permanently deactivate a lost or stolen card, please come to the Freedom Card Office in Revere Center. a replacement can be issued with a new freedom card number. A $10 fee will be charged for the replacement card. The fee is not refundable if you locate your old card. Once a card is reported as lost/stolen it can not be reactivated if you find it. If a lost card is found, it should be returned to the Freedom Card Office.
If your card becomes worn out, and you are having problems with it swiping, please bring the card to the Freedom Card office during normal working hours and it will be replaced. There is no cost for a replacement card as long as the freedom card number on the card being replaced is your current freedom card number.

Students with a projected credit balance for the Spring 2017 2nd 8-Week Course period (as determined by Student Financial Services), will have up to $2,000 placed on their Freedom Card as a bookstore voucher for exclusive use at the Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstore in Moon Township. Bookstore vouchers can be used for educational related purchases using excess financial aid.
For students that are entitled to receive financial aide for the Spring 2017 2nd 8 Week Course period:
The first day students can use bookstore vouchers will be on Thursday, 2/9/2017
The last day students can use bookstore vouchers will be on Saturday, 3/11/2017.
After the add/drop period, the bookstore vouchers will be cleared off of the Freedom Card and any remaining funds will be credited back to the student account and a refund will be processed according to the policies and procedures of the Student Financial Services Department.
The Freedom Card is your key to campus dining. Meal plans and Colonial Cash are stored on the Freedom Card and can be used at any of the dining locations. A valid Freedom Card must be presented to access your funds. Cards that are damaged or unreadable will not be accepted.
Your meal plan money must be used by the end of each semester. Meal plans do not carry over from semester to semester. If you need additional funds, Colonial Cash can be added at any time.
ONLINE ACCOUNT ACCESS:
Because the Freedom Card is unique to every cardholder, the 16-digit number given is part of an access code needed to enter the Sentry Secured Services area of the RMU website.
Using the last 10 digits of the Freedom Card, along with the last 4 digits of your Social Security number and birth date, online accounts can be activated at the Robert Morris University website. www.rmu.edu/activate. Once this initial step is complete, a user name and password can be created, so it is not necessary to memorize the Freedom Card Number.
Once a user name and password are created, students can start using the E-Mail address and account Robert Morris University has provided for them. This address will be a primary means of communication and should be checked regularly. Students will also have immediate access to the secured area of the website. Access to these pages will allow students to view their grades and obtain other information specific to them. Things such as financial information, official schedules, registering, and paying for classes will are available through this secured area.
You must present a valid Freedom Card in order to borrow books and research materials from the University’s library in Moon Township. The magnetic stripe of your card is encoded with information required to borrow books from the library. Cards that are damaged or unreadable will not be accepted.
Everyone in the Robert Morris University community who has an active Freedom Card is eligible to be a member of the Robert Morris University Fitness Center. This membership is free to those students who complete the fitness waiver. There is a small monthly fee charged to faculty and staff. Once the waiver is completed you will be able to use your Freedom Card to access the Fitness Center. If the card is lost or damaged, access to the club will not be granted.
