This New Life is a Gift from God

What brought you to RMI? Please use this space to briefly let our readers know what your life was like when you first found us, Envia, so our readers understand just what a miracle your restoration is.

Envia, how did your restoration actually begin?

In April 2016 my husband left home, resentful, bitter and determined to never come back after 13 years of marriage. I started my struggle with the Lord one month before he left, which helped me to understand, but not to avoid the deep pain and heartbreaking situation.

My husband made this decision because I was not living as a Christian wife should act. Most of the time I was contentious, quarrelsome, bossy, and usurped the role of my husband as head of household.  Besides that, the worst sin that I committed, was to have made an idol of my husband and by doing so, I removed God from our lives.

During this restoration journey many horrible and difficult things happened, but in each one, without exception— the Lord stood beside me! He taught me that every moment and every valley I went through was necessary. Then, He and His great love and mercy would heal and restore my heart. Also, due to being transparent about my shortcomings, my daughters and especially my family were also healed during this journey.

At first the resource that helped me cope with the battle was the book How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage, which helped me completely understand that the Lord had everything under His power and that He must first change me. For all of you who still want restoration, you must put Him first, trust Him and no one else. Then believe what He promises and let Him make the changes in you. For me, this has been an indispensable process that allowed Him to restore me first, then our marriage.

How did God change your situation Envia as you sought Him wholeheartedly?

After a year of fighting, which only meant my husband hated me more, not to mention the great distance between us and zero chance of reconciliation, I received my first sign. The Lord began to work on my husband. This was after Him knowing that I was already completely His and my heart belonged to Him alone. My husband lost his excellent, well-paying job. As a result, he had no choice but to leave the luxury apartment where he lived.  He was forced to return to where his parents lived. I, throughout that time, had always declared that staying in that place (his luxury apartment) was going to be temporary and so—God was faithful and pulled him away. He took him to live with his parents, where I had asked God to put him, to give us, my HH and me even more time to be together before restoration.

My husband's heart was hardened, despite the humiliating ordeal he was going through. For me, it seemed that was not what he might have prayed for me. My humiliation forced me to give my life to the Lord because I had to live one difficult thing after another difficult, very painful experience. I knew God was working on me, changing me and making me whole again, after sending me into the fire over and over again. God rearranged my heart so that his son was now first. This has been the secret of our Beloved Father, being able to work and change everything!

What principles, from God's Word (or through our resources), Envia, did the Lord teach you during this trial?

Being a wise, pure woman. To be the helpmate to my husband and a good mother to my daughters. To be a better person in my daily life and a good daughter to my parents and in-laws. To be a wise woman.

Tithing changed everything. Before I was willing to tithe and surrender and trust Him, due to fear, I saw no changes. Even after tithing, it didn't happen until I was resolved that I needed to give to my storehouse, here at RMI. This is when each of the resources began to come alive and I began to live in joy, love, and peace.

What were the most difficult times that God helped you through Envia?

Hatred and indifference from my husband, who acted as if I had never seen or known him before. He was someone I didn't know, no one my children wanted to be around. Everyone said he was different and to move on to find someone else, a better man.

Envia, what was the “turning point” of your restoration?

The turning point was when I decided to drop my husband definitely in the hands of the Lord. Many times I gave my husband to Him, but one day I said, "Lord I do not need anyone else to be happy! I promise to stay with You and not look for any man, ever. From now on, You're going to be my Husband, now and forever.” God was good and faithful and He saw my HH and I starting to grow closer each day.

Tell us HOW it happened Envia? Did your husband just walk in the front door? Envia, did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?

In August 2017, my oldest daughter had to have an operation and it was an emergency. I knew it was something that God had allowed for good, for a purpose and I wasn't frightened or concerned because I'd experienced His love. During the days in the hospital, my husband and I were with her.  We slept there and lived there together in total peacefulness. That weekend, I prayed with faith and humility to the Lord and told Him I did not want to spend one more weekend as a broken family. I was ready for our family to be restored. I told Him I wanted and was finally ready to spend the days when we returned home being a family again. Going through this I saw Him turn my heart to want His will, no longer my own. And so, because He is so good and wonderful, God gave me this— my new heart's desire.

After returning home, my husband started coming to the house every weekend to spend time with our daughters and me and no longer took them out to spend time as he had been doing. After a few months, he began to sleep in our house, not in our bed, but under the same roof. I saw the Lord work every day, although the evidence on coexistence, I have to say, was even tougher. Nevertheless, I decided to believe our Beloved Heavenly Father and declare that if He had brought my husband here, He would complete the good work in each of us.

I was no longer the woman who fought and demanded her way. I was, with the help of the Lord, my HH, a calm, wise and gentle spirit. In addition, my husband began to join in all our family prayers—he participated willingly (when previously wanting nothing, absolutely nothing of God)! He knew that our Father was in our home and that the peace he felt was there because He was our Father. I contemplated not praying as we'd done, but it was my daughters who insisted and initiated it each morning and evening.

In December 2017, my husband, after a conversation he had with his parents, decided it was time to fully return and he announced it to our daughters. They became so happy, knowing that God had answered every prayer and that He had never been far from our suffering and pain.

On January 1st, the first day of the New Year, my husband began coming in and sleeping with me. Surprisingly (because I no longer needed it or wanted it), he apologized for leaving and said, "Let's leave the past behind and start over from scratch. Let's have a new marriage."

Restoration takes time, but day by day the Lord does His work. All that I went through was worth living. No, I'm still not the perfect woman and neither is my husband the perfect man. Now that we have the Lord in the middle of our lives, and we know that while living in our home (which will be forever), everything will work according to His perfect work—we do live a perfect life and restoration.

You could see that you suspected or were close to being restored?

Yes, I was fully aware. God gave me many, many signs that it would be restored despite the horrible circumstances. It's only because of the resources that I knew what to look for.
