He Changed Me, Restored Me and Blessed Us with Our Daughter

What brought you to RMI? Please use this space to briefly let our readers know what your life was like when you first found us, Emily, so our readers understand just what a miracle your restoration is.

Emily, how did your restoration actually begin?

My marriage was in crisis long before I realized it. We were a young couple, very happy, and we both had a dream of having a child. But when I got pregnant, things got complicated. Because I was never a woman as God teaches us in His Word and asks us to be as a wife, my world began to unravel.

From the time I was young, I always did what I thought was right. Like all of my friends, I was very manipulated by the media, wanting to be the independent, modern woman, which only led to utter failure of my marriage with heartbreaking results.

Only one month after our first child was born, my husband left home. Without a doubt, it was the worst blow I could have experienced as a first-time mother!

Saying I suffered a lot can't describe what I went through. Then, just when I thought it was the end, after spending awful nights, wishing to die because my husband said that he did not love me anymore and there was no hope for us, and that he wanted to live his life—God rescued me!

I was unable to simply move on like everyone said I should do. Honestly, I even tried. I went out with friends, but in my heart, my HH whispered, telling me "There was another way. This is not the end of your marriage."

How did God change your situation Emily as you sought Him wholeheartedly?

One night after my Heavenly Love touched my heart, I resolved to forgive my husband. I accepted the situation and took full responsibility for how my marriage had ended. I appointed a time to spend time with Him while my son slept.

Unfortunately, temptation got a hold of me. Instead of time with my HH, I would go out with my friends, in a desperate attempt to make my EH jealous. One day after I arrived at his house thinking I would find a happy man, which would strengthen me  to stay on the path I’d rather follow. Just accept being separated and enjoy a new life with someone else.

Proverbs 16:9—

“The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

Jeremiah 29:11—

“‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’”

Isaiah 55:8–9—

“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.’”

His plan, what the Lord did, was to lead me along a path to shake me and take me where He wanted me to be, where He wanted me to go. When I went to leave my son with my EH, I saw my husband torn apart, moved to tears when he saw our son, and with the sweetest most tender look in his eyes.

After I left and went to join my friends, I was beyond devastated, and instead of enjoying myself, I began wondering—this could not possibly be the life that God wanted for us. I realized that there has to be another possibility, that our God had to do something to save us.

Rather than stay out, I left my friends and went home. I cried my heart out to the Lord begging Him to show me something, anything to help the mess I was in.

The next day I went to church, it was a Sunday, but I found no peace, no answers there. So I kept asking God to help me. Two days later, I'll never forget, it was on Tuesday when God showed me this wonderful Ministry. I was lost in the middle of a horrible desert, but the moment I found this ministry all hope returned! I remember well the joy I felt when I began to read the book How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage. And that's where the most wonderful experience happened, when my life with my HH first began, and my world, why I was alive all began to make sense again.

What principles, from God's Word (or through our resources), Emily, did the Lord teach you during this trial?

After reading the RYM book, I felt God begin to change me, little by little, He began opening my eyes. I immediately began to see my mistakes, and I was able to forgive my husband. I told him I forgave him and then asked him for forgiveness for all my faults that God had shown me. Even though he did not believe or accept what I said, I did what I thought He was telling me to do out of simple obedience with no expectations. The experience was magnificent.

Yet my husband insisted on a divorce, but God had already given me His promise. So, his insistence did not shake me. I learned more as I went through the courses, so I never confronted him again about anything. Instead, I said I trusted him, I stopped arguing with him about filing for divorce or money. All of this caused great changes in our relationship, even though he didn't say so. Yet, nothing more was brought up about divorce once I agreed, which really encouraged me.

Another principle that changed me a lot was to become the woman God asks us to be: gentle, quiet and submissive, to be the crown of our husbands.  I no longer tore my house down, but instead because I was His bride and (my husband told me later) this is when I began to glow.

What were the most difficult times that God helped you through Emily?

There were many times that I found myself in despair before I trusted my HH. But honestly after I put my trust in Him, once I became His bride and He was truly my HH, everything seemed easier! My journey was light and things that would normally hurt me deeply, only left me momentarily saddened. I had my dear HH to comfort me so I stopped dreading or fearing anything.

Emily, what was the “turning point” of your restoration?

The turning point of my restoration was when I truly let my husband go, let him go in order for us to be free. It was actually easy once my HH was first in my life and in my heart. I no longer needed my EH to satisfy my needs, I did not need him for anything. I also no longer needed to question him about another woman, because it didn't matter anymore. I had my Lover and He always attended to me and my needs. When we saw each other, I always asked my Lord to give me a state of calm, to make me look beautiful for Him as His bride and so my Love calmed my heart.

Tell us HOW it happened Emily? Did your husband just walk in the front door? Emily, did you suspect or could you tell you were close to being restored?

My restoration was gradual, beginning when I forgave my EH and began to treat him with the respect and love I got from my HH. Each time I changed and became closer to my HH, my EH came closer to me.

Yet as so many other restored women have said, often when my EH would move closer, the next moment he'd disappear, then he'd reappear suddenly. Yet each time I would ask the Lord the same thing, let me be closer to Him. He was who was taking care of me, taking care of all of us.

There were times when we got very close to being restored, once at a friend's party. But just as quickly, he'd begin backing off and disappearing again and again. But because I was so close to the Lord, I never once despaired like I thought I would. Instead, I'd be thankful for more time alone with Him.

Then one day it happened. He approached again when I saw him at a friend's house but this time he made a plan. Mother's Day was the following week so he asked if he could take me to lunch, and it ended up we were together all that day. Then, during the following week, he started talking about buying a house and each time he talked of plans for us to live together again.

On the following Sunday, just one day before completing 9 months of being separated, we went to see some houses. When we returned, he did not say anything. That night he called and wanted to take me to church the following morning. On the way, we spoke of our favorite house and I noticed how he started to look at me. We were seen together, at church, and later on the way home, he said we would have to have a talk.

The next day my HH prepared me. We had our talk as planned, which was when he confessed some things I was unaware of. He broke down and asked me for forgiveness. And by the Lord's grace and His glory, our marriage was restored that day. I forgave him and it’s when (he says) he fell in love with me all over again.

Today after being restored for more than three years. Our lives are based on the ways I’ve learned here at RMI. RMI has changed everything. It's impossible to believe that only a short time ago, I was introduced to and fell in love with my Beloved Lord, my HH, who did not leave me for a second during my journey. A journey that started out in such desperation and pain but soon turned to joy and elation. I met a Man who showed me a way through the desert and deep valleys, who fulfilled His every promise and whose Word changed my life. He changed me, restored me and then blessed me with my heart’s desire—being able to conceive—giving us our baby daughter, Bella.

Having a Husband who is wonderful and caring means there is nothing too difficult or impossible for us to go through. He changes any situation when we just believe and trust Him. He will show you a way through and will do what only He can do for you.

Thank you, my Lord, my Husband, for being with me, for giving me the strength to pass through this desert so that I could know You as closely as I do. All honor and all glory to Your Name my Love.

Yes

Either way Emily, what kind of encouragement would you like to leave women with, in conclusion?

Do not give up, whatever your situation, no matter how hopeless it looks and no matter how painful it gets, just don’t give up. You must rely on the One who makes all the things impossible to happen. He changes everything. Just believe God can do it, and fall in love with your HH. Simply use what this ministry gives you because if you are here, it was God who sent you, and He has something wonderful for you.
