Nutcracker Tickets
  • Tuscaloosa Community Dancers will be putting on The Nutcracker again this year at the Bama Theater.  Olivia will be in Act 2 of the production, so Mrs. Staggs is planning to make a group ticket purchase on Saturday, September 23.  She can purchase for the following:
    • Breakfast with the Nutcracker, Saturday, December 9, 8:45 a.m.--$5 per ticket (adult or student)
    • Full Show on Saturday, December 9, 10:00 a.m.--$16 for adults, $12 for seniors, $7 for children and students, 2 and up
    • Full Show on Sunday, December 10, 2:00 p.m.--same prices as Saturday
  • If we can get a group of 15 or more for a particular show the prices may be even lower, but we're still investigating that possibility.
  • Please email Mrs. Staggs at grammarprincipal@riverwoodclassical.org by the end of the day on Friday, September 22nd, with:
    • your show time and
    • the number of student, senior, and adult tickets that you would like.
  • Payments can be made to the school once the tickets have been purchased and we see if we can get any additional discounts.

THE Basketball
  • Tuscaloosa Home Educators' Basketball Season is about to get underway.
  • Fun Nights are currently being held on Mondays at The Word on Hwy. 69 from 5:30 to 7:30 and Thursdays at University Church of Christ from 6-8.
  • Practices will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings beginning in October.
  • Games are currently scheduled to begin in November.
  • Families must belong to the Tuscaloosa Home Educators ($10 membership fee) in order for students to participate.  Participation on the team costs $350, which can be covered by ads sold.

RCS Holiday Bazaar
  • Elena Arnold has graciously agreed to head up a team to coordinate our Holiday Bazaar!  If you would like to join this team please contact her at 205-331-9883 or elena@thearnoldhousehold.net.
  • The bazaar will be on Saturday, October 28, from 8:30 until 2:00.

Tuesday, October 31: Literary Character Dress-up Day
  • Students may dress up as a literary character from a book.  Full or purchased costumes are NOT required!  What is required is that the character be from a book and that the student bring a copy of the book while wearing the costume so that the class can read the book to learn about the character.  Characters must not be scary.  Teachers will be happy to help students come up books and characters, if needed.

  • Concert Dress--Dress for the concert may be either:

    • clothes that comply with the dress code and length requirement listed below or

    • church clothes as would be worn on Sunday

    • Regardless, all outfits must meet to the following requirements:

      • proper length (dresses should come down to at least the knee, since the stage is higher than the audience)

      • completely cover any cleavage

      • cannot be seen through in any way

      • have straps that completely cover the shoulders

      • do not shine brighter than everyone else's outfits (no sequins, please)

      • do not include hair pieces that hide the next row of students, even one of them

      • do not include shoes that substantially alter the student's height (students have been arranged by height on stage and should try to keep to that height so as not to obscure the students behind them); also, we don't want anyone nervously tripping on shoes that they are not used to

      • no denim

    • also please note: no makeup, including nail polish, for the Grammar classes and only natural-looking makeup and polish for the Upper Class

  • Immediately following the Spring Concert, RCS will hold the ceremony graduating its very first class.  Please stay to celebrate!
  • After the Graduation Ceremony, all are invited to a celebratory reception in the Fellowship Hall and to view the students' art from the spring semester.
