Arduino Day 2014

On 29 March 2014, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Arduino.

Students at Riverside marked the occasion with a workshop entitled:

Re-imagining the Mouse

Here is a short blogpost describing what we got up to on Arduino Day.

Mouse Badges
Our first task was badge-making.
Using a 3Doodler plastic extrusion pen, we designed our own mouse-themed plastic badges.

Gummy Mice
If you've never looked at the underside of a Makey-Makey, you might not realise that there are mouse controls already built into the device.
All it takes is a few jumper leads embedded into gummy bears, and you have your own alternative mouse.

Ultrasonic Mice

We used two ultrasonic rangefinders, placed at right-angles to eachother to make a 2D location detection grid.

Pressure Cubes

By making four pressure sensors, we were able to make a cube-shaped input device which moved a pointer as you squeezed its sides.
