About Us

The Viking Beat is the high school newspaper at Rio Middle/High School in Rio, Wisconsin. Newspaper and yearbook production is a joint class offered as an elective to juniors and seniors. As a result, students are in charge of the newspaper, and newspaper issues are published here online nearly every month of the school year. In the past, the newspaper was created in Publisher and distributed in print across the school. With the new school initiatives in providing a Chromebook to each student at the 6-12 grades, the time felt right to move all of our journalism efforts online. We hope that providing these materials online will increase our readership and spread the word about all of our great events, academics, sports, students, and staff at Rio Middle/High School.
