Enable Calendar notifications

By default in Lotus Notes when someone invites you to a meeting, you receive a message in your Inbox that you open and then either accept or decline the invitiation. However in Google Calendar the default is to not receive a notification. Instead the event gets added to your calendar and you can then open it and decided to accept or decline.

If you prefer to get the more familiar email reminder to prevent overlooking calendar appointments, you can change the default notifications in Google Calendar by following these steps.
  • Open your Google Calendar and click the Gear  icon in the top right corner and choose Settings.
  • Click the Calendars tab when the Calendar Settings displays and then select Notifications next to your default calendar.
  • Set your preferences for when you would like to be notified. You can also get a daily summary of your agenda by checking the last option. Don't forget to click Save or you won't have changed your settings!
