Mrs. Kimble's Pre-K 4/5

MARCH CAME IN LIKE A LION! WILL IT GO OUT LIKE A LAMB????

Last week was“Q” week and we learned quite a bit, but it was cut a little short because of “Old Man Winter, again!” We did learn the different sounds that “q” makes though, and how to sign “q” too! We learned that it borrows the sounds of /k/ and /w/ and put together it's /kw/,  (the "quiet scraper" sound and the "windy" sound)! We also learned that it likes to pal around with its bff  "u" too, (U2?). It's a funny letter that letter "q."

This month we will not only be learning about letter q, but also letters r, s, and t and the themes health and nutrition, St. Patricks Day and rhymes, shapes and sizes, and spring and seasons.

We made some incredible igloos in Makerspace along with the most perfect penguins ever, with our new cool 3d printers! We had Mrs. Post’s third-grade class read to our class for Love of Reading Week, and boy did BOTH classes love that again! They enjoyed it so much that we decided to make it a monthly experience!

This week, we are reading some stories about St. Patrick and some Irish traditions, and making some very cool science discoveries! We will learn that the shamrock is the national flower of Ireland and according to the legend; St. Patrick planted this clover-like plant all over Ireland because its three small leaves represented the Holy Trinity. Wow! We will be reading stories and poems about leprechauns and making rainbows and pots of gold! As always, we will be using our fine motor skills and our imaginations while making some really neat art projects in class too!

We will continue practicing our first and last name using the proper case and finger spacing. Please encourage the children to trace and/or practice on their own at home too. I will provide you with the lined paper for your convenience. Looking forward to an absolutely Marvelous March!!!!!

Thank You and God Bless-

Julie Kimble
