Butter Dishes

Around 1870, when EAPG was first made, just about everyone churned their own butter. Making butter was hard work because it was hand churned. The cream was skimmed off the fresh milk and churned until the yellow fat separated from the buttermilk and stuck together in chunks. Some of the butter was molded in a press and the butter was then stored in the EAPG butter dish on the table. Today using an antique butter dish adds charm to any holiday table setting.
