About Us

The association was formed and the CONSTITUTION ADOPTED on 28TH APRIL 1983 and was amended on 9th March 2009. We are based in King's Lynn, at the Reffley Community Hall (A). This was once an old prefab hospital ward which was acquired many years ago when the old hospital was closed down. Local residents managed to set up the association and with help in the way of land acquired near the newly built school, were able to erect the first hall on its present site. 

During late 2007 into 2008 a large new addition to the existing hall was constructed and has been called "The Reffley Suite". The aim was to provide a venue which will fulfil the needs of the local community and beyond for many years to come. The new building
offers a spacious entrance conservatory with inter-connecting doors giving access to the smaller Hammond Suite if required. The air conditioned Reffley Suite has a large floor space with, serving area /counter, kitchen, office, toilets, including disabled toilet and will accommodate up to 120 seated guests or 150 depending on the type of function being held. Both halls hired together, make an ideal venue for a wedding reception or other function where there is a need for lots of space. The association has a premises license to cover most if not all forms of activities that can be held there. We have put in a concrete parking pad and there is now better access for wheelchairs, prams etc. There is a sports changing room with its own separate access and facilities at the rear of the hall used by the local school football teams. 


The Association leases the land on which the Hall and Car Park are situated along with about 15 acres of land including the Playing fields, Pond and Spring Wood on the opposite side of the road. We pay for almost all the maintenance which includes grass cutting, car park surfacing, pond dredging, planting of trees and shrubs etc. The Association gained charitable status in February 1984 (Registered Charity number: 288514) and we currently rely totally on Hall Fees and fund raising for our income.









"We are all sometimes guilty of taking what we have for granted. Consider for a moment this large concentration of housing with no Community Hall. Would you miss its large car park which we let the school use for dropping off and collecting children, the public access to open land and a duck pond, or children’s play area, and woodland. Perhaps you don’t use these at present but will that always be the case? If you intend to stay and live in this area taking an interest in your Community Hall and its management is really about making sure your Community Hall will survive into the future for you, your children and perhaps their children. If you feel you could offer something in any way or would like to spare a little of your time to help make a difference, please get in touch."

 CCTV cameras and recording equipment are installed around the hall and premises to deter crime. Please be aware that we will prosecute the offender in any incident which is recorded on the equipment.

We would remind you that the car park at the hall is private property and is available only to users of the hall. Access is given for dropping off and picking up children from school subject to the Association not requiring the car park for any other reason. This car park must not be used for long-term or overnight parking. Reffley Community Association cannot be held liable for any loss, damage or injury however caused whilst using the car park or any other area managed by the association. We cannot accept any liability whatsoever for the loss of or damage to any vehicle or its contents, save to the extent that it is proved to be directly caused by the negligence, wilful act or wilful default of us or our servants or agents. You enter the car park at your own risk.
