Welcome to 3rd Grade! I am looking forward to working with you as a partner in educating your child. My goal is to facilitate learning in an exciting, engaging and fun way. As an educator, it is my job to see that your child becomes a lifelong learner. To achieve this, it is essential that we work together to ensure your child is working to his or her potential in a successful, positive and meaningful way. It is also important to recognize that childhood is a journey, not a race. Student progress begins at individual levels and will not look the same for all children. Keeping this in mind, we are certain to achieve success in educating your child academically, emotionally, and socially. I look forward to an upcoming partnership.
As an introduction, my name is Amy Smith and this will begin my tenth year teaching at Linden Hill Elementary. I have a degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Delaware. I previously taught for six years in the Cecil County Public Schools and for three years part-time in a private pre-school. I am excited to be a part of the warm and open Linden Hill community. I would like to share my teaching mission with you so that you are aware of the motivation and reasons behind my teaching actions:
My mission is to provide my students the tools they will need in order to be individuals who contribute to their community in a positive way. I will teach them problem-solving strategies, responsibility, and compassion towards all. I will help them to maintain and mold self esteem and to always help others in need. As I guide the students throughout the year, I will help them continue to develop a love of learning that will allow them to be lifelong learners. I strive to have my students achieve their personal best academically, socially and emotionally everyday.
Third grade is a monumental year in a child's life. This year, your child will be reading for meaning, writing with details and voice, problem solving in math, hypothesizing in science and much, much more!!! I am looking forward to working with you as a partner to make the learning and overall school experience a positive one.
If there are any questions which arise during the year, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you. Please write me a note, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also call school at 454-3406, ext. 205. I look forward to spending this year with you and your child!
