• Purpose: This group exists to provide a safe place where LGBTQ+ students and their straight allies can meet to discuss issues of interest to them and their communities. LGBTQ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning. While the letters do not encompass all gender identities and sexual orientations, we work to be inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

  • Activities: Sometimes we have a topic of discussion (like “How do you come out to your parents?”), and other times we get political and bring up current events about Gay Rights Issues. Sometimes we have guest speakers from community support groups like Prism Youth Community, PFLAG or IYG. We also participate in the annual “Day Of Silence” each Spring, to honor the LGBTQ people who have been silenced in the past about who they are. Also, we occasionally have Movie Days, and Dinner Days, where the group goes out to eat after school (the dates and places are typically discussed during meetings).
