SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK WILL BE OBSERVED

OCT. 22-26, 2018!

PARENTS/GUARDIANS, THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH YOUR CHILDREN ON HOW TO BE SAFE WHEN GETTING ON AND OFF THE SCHOOL BUS AND RIDING SAFELY IN THE SCHOOL BUS.

WE HAVE SOME SIMPLE RULES:
1.  While waiting on the bus to arrive, stand in their place of safety well off the road
2.  Watch the driver to drop his/her hand BEFORE getting on the school bus.  The driver is checking to make sure traffic is totally stopped!  This also applies to the afternoon drop off.  When crossing the street, WATCH the driver to drop his/her hand before crossing the street, and go directly to your place of safety.
3. Hold the hand rails entering the bus and get to your seat quickly.  Put their bottom to the bottom of the seat, back to the back of the seat, feet on the floor in front of them and bookbag in their lap.
4.  NEVER eat or drink on the bus and NEVER say or do anything unkind to another student!
OUR JOB IS TO MAKE SURE OUR STUDENTS HAVE A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE RIDE TO AND FROM SCHOOL!  THEY ARE OUR MOST PRECIOUS CARGO!
THANK YOU!

Our primary concern is for the safety and welfare of students while being transported. Safe, efficient transportation is a joint effort between the bus drivers, school staff, administrators, parents and students. We look forward to providing this service to our Ravenna families.

The Ravenna School District’s transportation department is housed at 703 Oakwood Street. The $500,000 transportation building features two large bays for bus maintenance and repair for the district’s 25 buses and 4 school vans.  We have an equipment room, and meeting and office space to accommodate 40 employees. The district was able to save $700,000 by renovating existing space at the former Ohio Department of Transportation complex instead of constructing a new building as originally planned. In addition, shared fuel storage space with the city will allow for more savings.

Interesting Facts!

  • We run 20 bus routes daily.
  • 1,250 students utilize our services.
  • We cover 1,200 miles daily.
  • An additional 30,000 miles are traveled annually for field trips.
