Week of Nov. 20 & 27, 2017

I will update my website on a weekly basis.  A weekly newsletter and homework will be sent home on Fridays.  Please contact me any time throughout the school year with questions or concerns at: lway@rappahannockschools.us.  I'm looking forward to a great year of learning!

Please look for your child's take home folder every day.  I will have them put all papers that are passed back to them in it to bring home on a daily basis.
 
REMINDERS: Students may buy breakfast first thing in the morning.  They should bring a snack from home every day to have around 10:15 since our lunch is not until 1:00.  Tuesday & Thursday are days that students may purchase ice cream with their lunch.

*IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND IN AN EXTRA SET OF CLOTHES FOR YOUR CHILD, I CAN STORE THEM IN THE ROOM IN CASE THEY ARE NEEDED.
THE NURSE DOES NOT HAVE EXTRA CLOTHES FOR STUDENTS.

*A NOTE WENT HOME IN TUESDAY'S FOLDER (10-31) ABOUT A NATIVE AMERICAN HOUSE DISPLAY.  THESE ARE DUE ON MON., NOV. 2OTH FOR A GRADE.  STUDENTS CAN MAKE A LONGHOUSE, A TEEPEE, OR A PUEBLO.  THANKS FOR YOUR HELP ON THIS AT HOME.

*OUR CLASS WILL VISIT THE PENGUIN HOLIDAY SHOP SPONSORED BY THE PTO ON TUES., DEC. 5TH AT 8:30.  STUDENTS MAY BRING MONEY ON THIS DAY TO PURCHASE ITEMS.

WEEK OF 11-20 - We will do Thanksgiving activities.

WEEK OF 11-27 -

Language -  Review Adjectives/ Friendly Letter

Reading - The story we will read is "The Secret Life of Trees."  The skill we will work on is identifying fact or fiction.  Reading Logs are due on Friday. Students should study these spelling words for a test on Friday: smooth, roots, food, scooter, boot, broom, moon, cartoon, roof, spoon
Math - We will finish our chapter on subtraction of 2 digits and take a test.

Social Studies -  We will finish our unit on Native Americans (Powhatan, Lakota, Pueblo).  A study guide will be sent home on Mon., Nov. 27th for a test planned for Thurs., Nov. 30th.
