The Ranger PTO provides both funding support and volunteer manpower for various special events and programs for the students and parents. Following are the major events and programs in which the PTO plays an important role:
Anti-drug Awareness Week (f/k/aRed Ribbon Week)
A week of events for both students and parents to raise awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. ADAW is coordinated with the Mountain Brook Anti-Drug Coalition.
BWF spirit apparel and gear are sold periodically by the PTO to raise funds and promote school spirit.
Week-long book sale held annually in the fall, net proceeds from sales make this a fundraiser that also promotes reading and literacy
BWF's Got Talent (f/k/a BWF Idol)
Singing contest organized by the PTO.
Boosterthon Fun Run
Major fundraiser organized by the PTO which involves a pledge per lap fun run
Circle of Friends Week
An annual event with activities designed to raise awareness of those with special needs and disabilities and thank teachers and staff in the special education department
Various fundraising opportunities including Boxtops for Education, and Publix Partners Cards
A fundraiser cookbook published in 2009 full of recipes donated by parents, students, teachers, staff, and friends of BWF - copies are available for purchase in the school office
A Mountain Brook City Schools wide Writing & Arts Contest for elementary school students
Family Night Dinner
Community-building dinner held annually in conjunction with classroom visitation.
An annual event held in the spring for all students to enjoy an afternoon of games, rides, food, and fun organized and staffed by PTO volunteers, net proceeds from sponsorships and admission sales make this both a fun event and a big fundraiser for the PTO
These dinners, hosted by PTO volunteers in a private home, help build a sense of community and raise funds for the PTO - guests make a donation to the PTO; the cost of the event is borne by the volunteer hosts
A special party in the spring for Kindergarten students and their grandpals (grandparents or senior citizen friends)
Mercedes Kids Marathon
The PTO assigns volunteers to help promote and coordinate participation in the annual Mercedes Kids Marathon.
An annual welcome party for new families organized by the PTO in coordination with the school guidance counselor.
An annual party held the day before school starts to welcome and distribute information packets to incoming kindergarteners and their families
A major fundraiser every year in which items donated by local businesses, students, parents, teachers, staff, and other friends of Brookwood Forest are displayed and auctioned during a fun evening for parents.
Sixth Grade Graduation
The PTO provides funding and volunteers to help coordinate the ceremony and reception recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the sixth grade students on their last day at Brookwood Forest.
Summer Reading Celebration
A special party in September congratulating the students on participating in the Summer Reading Program organized by the local public library.
Various events and perks for teachers and staff to show how grateful we are for their dedicated service.
A back-to-school luncheon for all BWF teachers and staff held on Institute Day in August
Tribute Cards: Special recognition cards sold by the PTO as a fundraiser. Provides a great opportunity to recognize a special teacher or staff member.
Veteran's Day Program
A special program held in the auditorium on or around Veteran's Day to honor our nation's veterans, features students in grades 4-6
An annual event which includes visits to the school by well-known authors, organized and funded jointly by all Mountain Brook city elementary school PTO's
