The Colorado Governor's Energy Office (GEO) and the Colorado Wind Application Center at Colorado State University are now accepting applications for the 2011 Wind for Schools Grant. The Wind for Schools Program engages rural school teachers and students in wind energy education and educates college students about wind energy applications Selected host schools receive a small 1.8 kW wind turbine to provide students with a concrete example of how wind energy works, while allowing for an exciting hands-on educational opportunity using state-of-the-art technology. Eligible applicants are schools districts located in Colorado that can demonstrate decent wind resources, excellent curriculum inclusion and project sustainability.

Application materials are available from the Colorado WAC website at https://sites.google.com/a/rams.colostate.edu/csu-wac/2011-request-for-applications.  This is an open RFA that will be available until September 20, 2011.  Applications will be reviewed each month for applications received electronically by the 20th of each month.  Grants funds will be awarded each month until the RFA closes or the funds run out.
