Locations of the Colorado Wind for Schools Host Schools: 2009 - 2010

This is the website of the Colorado Wind Application Center at Colorado State University. It's a work in progress and we'll be adding content on a regular basis as we build this into a really useful site.

What We're About

The U.S. Department of Energy's Wind Powering America sponsors the Wind for Schools project to raise awareness in rural America about the benefits of wind energy while simultaneously developing a wind energy knowledge base in future leaders of our communities, states, and nation.

At the Colorado Wind Application Center, we're seeking to become the information source for those in Colorado that wish to install wind energy - small scale through wind farm scale. For now, we're in the middle of a three-year pilot program in which we are helping to install Southwest Windpower 1.8 kW Skystream wind turbines at the school to generate a some power (not enough to power the entire school!) and to provide an educational tool and platform to be able to teach about wind energy.
