6th Grade Art Wheel

Aug 29th to Sept 1st

Please have your parent or guardian sign the "Academic and Behavior Expectations Policy" & "Pre-Approval Video Policy" by Friday Sept 1st.  Please turn in the 2 documents by Friday Sept 1st to Mr. Faller RM 35.

Shade / Value Scale

You will create a 1 to 10 shade scale on the provided 8 x 10 paper.  Using a ruler and just a pencil, you will shade from 1 (color of the paper to 10 (absolute black).  The scale should measure 10 inches by 4 inches.

 


 

Sphere & Cone Drawing

Using your 1 to 10 shade scale, you will draw a 6 inch sphere and a 6 inch cone that has 2 parts: 1) 1 through 10 shade scale dependent on the direction of the light. 2) a shadow.  Demonstration for how to draw and shade objects will be done in class on the Smart Board.  This will include how to make the shapes and the exact layout of the shade scale.

Cylinder & Pyramid Drawing

Using your 1 to 10 shade scale, you will draw a 8 x 5 inch cylinder and a 8 inch Pyramid that has 2 parts: 1) 1 through 10 shade scale dependent on the direction of the light. 2) a shadow.  Demonstration for how to draw and shade objects will be done in class on the Smart Board.  This will include how to make the shapes and the exact layout of the shade scale.

Real Life Objects

You will create 2 renderings of real life objects that fit with one of the 4 shapes that we learned about in the previous weeks.  Each object will have a 1 to 10 shade scales without and shadow necessary.  No lines should be present, presenting a 3D image of the object.

Comic Splash

You will create an image that is a collage of comic, video game, cartoon, manga, anime or any other type of image.  Shading will not be required unless you want to add this.  It must be finished in pen with all pencil erased.  You can start in pencil, but must finish in pen.  You can use any color pen that you want.  Logos and words can also be added, but please be clean and neat.

Color Wheel

Students are to create a 12 part color wheel producing all Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Colors with the middle being a combination of all colors.  The Primary and Secondary Colors are 3 Inches while the Tertiary Colors are 2 inches.  All colors must be outlined in ink and labeled.  Neatness counts on this project so be clean.

 

Due Thursday 11/2/17 at the end of class.

Film Poster

Choose any "appropriate" film, cartoon, tv show, animation, book, play or story that you will create a movie poster for.  The poster should have all of these elements:

 

1. 1 Large depiction of the main character.

2. 2 Large depiction of the main villain.

3. Title in the font of the story. (This must be in the style of the story that you chose)

4.25 to 30 side characters.  (This can also include characters in different costumes, background characters...etc.)

5. 2 Scenes (Memorable parts of the story)

6. 2 Landscapes (Backgrounds and setting for the story such as bedrooms, forests, beaches, parks.  No characters should be present.)

7. Inked fully.

8. Either it will be fully colored or utilize 2 tones of color with shading as it was covered in the classroom.

9. Neat & Clean ( All areas are erased and clean with no stray pencil marks)

10. All the previous parts are included with this equaling an extra 10 points.

 

All of this should = 100 Points with each section being worth 10 points.

 

 

This is a 100 Point project.  As of Monday 11/28, you will have had 3 weeks to work on the project.  The Project is due on Monday 11/28.  No late projects will be accepted after this date unless notice can be given.
