Homework & communication

Homework:

1. READING LOG: Read EVERY night & write a short response about what you read/learned.

Students can read picture books, chapter books, comic book, whatever they are interested in! They can read to self, parent, sibling, pet...just get them reading). Reading logs are due Friday with parent signature.

2. MATH GAME: Each Monday students will be given a new math skill game.

Students will learn/practice game in class and should continue practicing the game throughout the week at home. The game should be kept in the students' "Home Folder". Parents should sign the Math Game Log each week and return the log in the folder on Friday. The math game can stay at home for continuous play!

3. WORD STUDY LIST: Vocabulary, Spelling or Prefix/Suffix:

Students will have vocabulary, prefix/suffix words or a spelling list to practice. We will alternate weeks so students will only have one word study list to focus on at a time. Lists go home on the first day of the week and quizzes are on Fridays (worth 10 points).

Wednesday Envelopes:

Every Wednesday students will bring home a large yellow envelope! This folder is the main source of how information will come home to parents/guardians. his envelope is to be emptied, signed, and returned the following day (Thursday).

Inside the Wednesday folder you will find:

  • Parent/Class Info
  • School Flyers/Events
  • Graded Work
  • Completed Class Work

Home Folder:

Students are responsible for transporting their "Home Folder" to and from school. Home Folders should come to school EVERY MONDAY & FRIDAY, but students can bring them every day if desired.

Home Folders are used only for Homework and the occasional letter (that is urgent and cant wait to be put in the Wednesday Folder).

Other papers and school info will be communicated via the Wednesday Envelope.
