Innovations in Education

Are you interested in learning more about recent innovations in K-8 education and how they might impact our school district and our children? How do the educational approaches in our Portola Valley schools compare to other schools locally and across our state and nation? What exactly is 21st Century Learning? What is STEM? What is the current thinking about how best to prepare our children for high-school, college, and ultimately the workforce and life more generally?

Our committee is focused on raising awareness and creating deeper understanding of innovations in K-8 education in support of the District's strategic planning effort. We hope to educate and promote discussion across the Portola Valley School District community (teachers, staff, parents) through "book-club reviews", a speaker series, and the highlighting of resources in our broader community and via the Internet.

Please contact us if you have any suggestions or would like to join this committee.
