The Medieval World and Beyond

500-1500 C.E.

Teacher: Ms. Elizabeth Eleftherakis

“But I suppose the most revolutionary act one can engage in is…To tell the truth.”

-Howard Zinn

Course Description: Students will study world history from 500-1500 C.E. This course will include the study of European history from the fall of Rome through the renaissance, as well as the study of the origins of Islam, Kingdoms of Africa, Imperial China, Medieval Japan, and early American civilizations.

Note from Ms.E: It is my strong belief that in order for us to enjoy learning we must feel a connection to what we are learning about.  We have to believe the content is relevant to our own lives.  In this course, we will continually strive to connect what we learning with who we are.  I promise this will be an engaging class where we will ask as many questions as we will find answers.  I also promise to do my part to make my classroom a warm and inviting place to learn.

Extra Help and Parent Communication: Students are encouraged to seek extra help when needed. I am available after school every Monday. I am also available other days of the school week by prior appointment.  The best way to reach me is via email.  My email address is eleftherakise@pvrsdk12.org.  I can also be reached by calling the high school’s main number (413-498-2931) and asking to be connected to my voicemail.
