Program Textbook

"What's the use of a house if you don't have a decent planet to put it on?" ~ Henry David Thoreau, Naturalist

For all of the courses in the sustainability program, we will be using G. Tyler Miller & Scott Spoolman's Living In The Environment, AP version, sixteenth edition. All students are issued a copy on the textbook to have at home for reference and for occasional assignments. The text was chosen for both its breadth and depth, analyzing environmental systems focused on hard science with respect to the social and economical influences human have on it in a myriad of ways. Loaded with charts, graphs, case studies, economic figures, references, critical thinking prompts and a whole lot more, this textbook will serve as an invaluable resource to the sustainability program as it not only presents the hard science of our natural world, but also poses the tough perspectives, realities, questions and challenges that all organisms face on this planet.
