My name is LeAnna Heidi Wolkis-Goldstein.  I was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona.  I graduated from Horizon High School in the Paradise Valley Unified School District and received my Bachelors Degree in Education from ASU.  I have earned an Early Childhood Endorsement as well as a Structured English Immersion Endorsement.  My Masters Degree is from NAU in Elementary Education. My belief that all students deserve accomplished teachers who are equipped to prepare them for success in today's world drove me to pursue an advanced teaching credential. As a result of participating in a rigorous, peer-reviewed process similar to stringent certification in fields like medicine . . . I achieved National Board Certification in November of 2012, which has allowed me to expand and refine my content knowledge along with my pedagogy. I am proud to be a member of the single largest identifiable group of accomplished practitioners. The reflective analyses which I was required to submit to the National Board  continues to be a part of the tools I use to define and measure my teaching excellence that results in the advancement of student achievement.

I helped open Sunset Canyon in 1999 and then had the privilege of opening Fireside Elementary School in 2012.

This will be my 19th year teaching Kindergarten in the Paradise Valley School District with a Highly Qualified Status.  All together I have been teaching Kindergarten for 26 years!!

I am extremely excited to be working as the Kindergarten Project Manager for the Paradise Valley School District.  In previous summers, I presented, hosted, coordinated and facilitated the Kindergarten Learning Through Arizona Standards Conference (KLAS).  In 2010 I was nominated for Arizona Teacher of The Year and most recently earned the United Parent Council Teacher Appreciation Award for 2012-2013!!  In past summers, I presented at the  Math Institute in Paradise Valley.  For the last four summers, I've been honored, humbled and grateful to join 1,412 Kindergarten educators in the role of Practitioner alongside many of the nation’s top authors and educational experts  at The SDE I Teach K National Conference. Upon my return this summer, I've been invited to raise my level of participation by being added to the "Dynamic Presenters List" which highlights the country's most respected educational leaders.  This conference is held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Venetian  Palazzo.  During the school year, I will be organizing and presenting the district wide Kindergarten Connections Professional Development as well as returning to my responsibilities on the Math Leadership Team.

In March 2006, I was married to my knight in shining armor, Russell.  He is so supportive of everything I do.  My husband has taught me patience and the value of knowing what’s really important in life.

When I am not teaching, you can find me enjoying: my secret garden, ballet barre, yoga, dance, art shows, fashion shows, broadway plays, arts & crafts, going to the beach and hanging out with my family of friends.

I am the luckiest person in the world because I get to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher.

Together we can build a partnership and make a difference in the life of each child.

I believe teaching is my true calling   . . .

Further down this page, I’ve shared a variety of activities that I rely on to engage children of all abilities and interests. These activities foster an environment of creativity & individuality.

This much I know for sure . . . What we think, We Become!

If I tell each child she/he is special . . . And I offer experiences that encourage imagination & curiosity . . . Then each child will rise to meet his/her full potential!

Kindergarten, ROOM 150 . . . where everyday learning is engaging and students work cooperatively!
