Dear Parents / Guardians:

This letter is to inform you of a stranger danger incident that has been reported in the community. We are sending the letter to raise awareness and provide you with information. The report has already been provided to the police department.

A female Polaris High School student reported being followed by an SUV this morning at approximately 9:20 a.m. She reported that the driver parked in a shopping area near 32nd Street and Greenway Road, approached her and repeatedly tried to engage her in conversation, speaking to her in both English and Spanish. The SUV is described as large, black, with chrome wheels, possibly a GMC. The man is described as being in his late 30s to early 40s, with a medium build, gray hair and gray mustache.

Help keep your child safe. Remind your child:

·    to be alert when walking to and from school, and to walk with a friend or group when possible

·    not to approach a stranger’s car or accept a ride from someone they don’t know well

·    to shout and run if someone tries to grab them, and

·    to report any incidents to you, their teacher or a police officer as soon as they can.

The safety of our students is always our highest priority. If you observe suspicious behavior in your neighborhood, do not approach the individual; call Crime Stop at 602-262-6151.

Sincerely,

Rich McCormick

Principal
