About Us

The American Cocker Spaniel is a breed of sporting dog that is closely related to the English Cocker Spaniel; the two breeds diverged during the 20th century due to differing breed standards in America and the UK. In the United States, the breed is usually called the Cocker Spaniel. The word cocker is likely to stem from their use to hunt woodcock in England. Here at Pure Heart Farms, we are particularly fond of cocker spaniels. Craig first owned and fell in love with a cocker spaniel as a child in the 1980s when his family adopted Breezy from a family friend. Cockers are a solid-bodied, strong dog but smaller than most spaniel breeds, making them ideal for family pets.

Although we primarily breed ACC F1 First Generation Cockapoos, breeding AKC Cocker Spaniels comes along with the territory, particularly when one of our dames is being planned for retirement. We breed first for temperament and health. Our breeding dogs live in our home and are beloved pets and valued members of our family. Every puppy is exposed to young children from birth and friends and family who visit also help with socialization. We aim to provide the healthiest and most personable dogs possible to make outstanding family pets. Our puppies are registered with American Kennel Club (AKC) which means our dames and sires are purebred and also registered with AKC.

As part of our pledge to provide the best dog possible, we provide every new puppy parent with the following:

  • Registration application to register your puppy with the AKC — you will need to fill it out online per the instructions on the form.
  • Signed guarantee from Pure Heart Cockapoos & Cockers - included as part of contract.
  • Small bag of puppy food
  • Stuffed animal or blanket with scent of litter mates.
  • Plain Collar
