College Update

February 2013
Seniors who have applied to 4-year colleges will begin getting acceptance notices from now through March. Students should check their college accounts frequently to get any important information including admission status, financial aid and housing.  In most cases students will be need to select the college they will attend by May 1st.
For seniors who plan on attending Sierra College (or any other California Community College), you should be applying online now (see "Applying to Sierra College on the left side of this page under "Navigation") taking the necessary assessment tests and meeting with a Sierra College counselor.  All of this should be completed well before online registration for classes which normally begins about May 1st.  If you put things off you may not get the classes you want.
If you are planning to attend a 4-year college you should be taking the SAT and/or ACT in the Spring.  See "SAT & ACT Dates" on the left side of this page under "Navigation".  There are several test opportunities this spring and you can take the tests as many times as you want.  It is best to have all of your testing completed by June of this year.  This is also the time for juniors to explore and investigate their college options.  Use the internet, go to college information nights, listen to college reps that visit PHS and try to tour college campuses.
