Dr. Constance Jones was appointed to serve as Superintendent of Pueblo City Schools, District 60, beginning July 1, 2014.  Dr. Jones has worked in public education for over 30 years as a classroom teacher, school principal and district administrator.  In 1995, she was recruited to serve as the vice-president of a national educational research foundation based in Charlottesville, Virginia where she developed and provided training for schools and school districts throughout the country.  From there she worked for the Maryland State Department of Education.  In 2003, she returned to Lee County School District (Fort Myers, FL) to serve as the Chief Academic Officer.  Her responsibilities included the oversight of:
  • Curriculum and Staff Development
  • Exceptional Student Education programs, Intervention Programs (Title I, Migrant and English Language Learners programs)
  • Department of Juvenile Justice Educational Services
  • Early Childhood Programs
  • Career, Technical and Adult Education
  • Grants
  • Educational Program Monitoring 
  • Charter Schools
  • Research
  • Evaluation
  • Testing
  • District Accreditation
  • JROTC programs
  • Virtual Education
In addition to her school district responsibilities, Dr. Jones has served as the Chair Emeriti for the Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida Board, a board member of the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, a member of the education committee for the Uncommon Friends Foundation, a board member of the Governor’s Florida Sterling Quality Council and volunteered for numerous community organizations.

Dr. Jones earned her Master in Education, Education Specialist and Doctorate of Philosophy degrees in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida.

Her goal has always been to provide all students with a quality education that enables them to graduate with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue post-secondary education or go directly into the workforce and contribute in meaningful ways to their family, community and country.  She lives by the belief that successful are the people who leave the world better than they found it, who never fail to look for the best in others or give the best of themselves.
