Home School Enrollment Information

You can reach the home school coordinator Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 719-253-6014.

Where to Start
Parents wishing to enroll their child in a home school program need to file a Notice of Intent.

New Enrollment for Home School
If your family is new to the district and never attended at PCS you can fill out the Notice of Intent and return it to PCS.

Enrollment for Families Currently Attending a PCS School
Families with children currently attending PCS need to go to the school where their child is currently attending. As part of the check out process, you will be asked to fill out a Notice of Intent.

If your child has frequently been absent you may also be asked to fill out additional paperwork describing the program you will be using to educate your child at home. This form is called Written Description of Curricula

If you are required to fill out the Written Description of Curricula form we urge you to continue to have your child attend until the curriculum you provide is approved. This process will ensure that you and your family are in compliance with state law and have no issues concerning truancy.

Once you have completed a Notice of Intent, a Written Description of Curricula has been approved (if applicable), and you have checked your child out of school you are ready to begin your home school program.

Enrollment for Continuing Home School Families
Continuing home school families need to fill out the Notice of Intent 14 days prior to beginning their next year of home-based education. 

Testing
Each student in a home-based program must be tested in grades 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. If the student’s composite score is above the 13th percentile, the student remains eligible for home-based education and is not subject to the compulsory attendance requirements.

If you have provided your Notice of Intent to PCS but provided the test results to another parochial school, umbrella school, or separate school district you must notify PCS where the results were sent.

Enrolling in Extra-curricular Activities at PCS
If you would like your child to participate in additional classes or activities through PCS you must contact your neighborhood school principal and request approval at your neighborhood school. All enrollments for home school students are by the discretion of the principal and subject to class size and subject availability.

What to Expect from PCS
When your home school enrollment process is completed you will receive a confirmation letter from the home school coordinator by email (if provided when you enrolled) or by U.S. mail.

Each year during July you will receive a reminder by email or U.S. mail to renew your home school enrollment. Continuing your enrollment is easy simply respond to the letter you receive or come to this website and fill out the current year's Notice of Intent.
