Welcome to 4th Grade! Fourth grade is taught by the following outstanding teachers: Ms. Ellen Holcomb, Mrs. Marie Schwager, Mrs. Kelly Sefcovic, and Mrs. Jessica Weckx.   

Throughout the year, 4th grade provides a weekly newsletter that will include information for our current Unit of Inquiry (which may include at home work to complete with the unit), weekly announcements and/or updates, and the weekly homework assignments.  Please ensure that, as a parent and student, you are reading this newsletter to stay current on all 4th grade information.  This newsletter is sent to the email address you provided for your child's teacher. 

As part of the International Baccalaureate Program, 4th grade has 6 Units of Inquiry which are...

Unit 1: Values and Beliefs--The Central Idea for this unit is an inquiry into how beliefs, values, and ethical obligations are able to impact the well-being and health of individuals and communities. 

Unit 2: Civilizations--The Central Idea for this unit is an inquiry into the fact that present civilizations are a result of the past.   

Unit 3: Development--The Central Idea for this unit is an inquiry into how various individuals, groups, ideas, and resources affect the development of an area. 

Unit 4: Communication--The Central Idea for this unit is an inquiry into how communication is ever-changing reflecting the people and technology over time. 

Unit 5:  Energy--The Central Idea for this unit is an inquiry into the various forms of energy and how energy impacts society and the environment.    

Unit 6: Organisms--The Central Idea for this unit is an inquiry helps students to understand that relationships exist between various organisms in a cohesive world.
