BROOKLAWN MIDDLE SCHOOL SKI CLUB

Please read - print from the registration page

The Brooklawn Ski Club will offer a program for those students who want to learn new techniques at Shawnee Mountain in Pennsylvania.  Skiing is a high-risk sport.  Any misconduct on the bus or at Shawnee will result in forfeiture of skiing privileges and fees paid, possibly for the remainder of the program.

Full-length skis and snowboards are the only acceptable equipment. Helmets are required and must be worn at all times on the ski slopes.

Lessons are mandatory and must be taken consecutively, starting with the first trip.

THE DAY AND DATES FOR THE SKI TRIPS ARE:

JANUARY

WED. 3rd,       WED. 10th,       WED. 17th       WED. 24th        WED. 31st

FEBRUARY

WED. 7th

MAKE UP DATES  FEBRUARY 14th, 21st and consecutive Wednesdays thereafter barring calendar conflicts

Students MAY NOT bring skis, poles or snowboards to school on the school bus, so other arrangements must be made.

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY FOR STUDENT DROP-OFF ON THE MORNING OF THE TRIPS...The parking lot becomes very difficult!

Students will put their equipment in the cafeteria in the front of the stage.  They should pile it as neatly as possible.  After school they can pick it up and proceed to the busses which will be in back of the school.

The chaperones will help students in the locker room and out to lessons.  Once the students are on the slope, they are on their own and need to act responsibly.

Students need to lock up their belongings at Shawnee...We can not be responsible for the belongings of 135 students.  Make sure they have money for a locker...many kids share a locker with their friends.

The bus leaves Brooklawn at 2:50 P.M. sharp.  Lessons and open skiing are from arrival until 8:00 P.M.  The busses leave Shawnee at or before 8:30.

Students should always ski in groups of 3 or more.

Students should complete all homework on the way to Shawnee (and on the way home if needed)...Ski club is not an excuse for missed homework!

Students may bring dinner or buy it at Shawnee.

The bus returns at 9:30 P.M. – PARENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT BROOKLAWN BY 9:30 P.M. TO PICK UP THE SKIERS.

FULL LENGTH SKIS AND SNOWBOARDS ONLY

TRIPS MAY HAVE TO BE CANCELLED THE MORNING OF THE TRIP

Every effort will be made to email cancellations before school but...

STUDENTS SHOULD COME TO SCHOOL PREPARED IF THEY ARE UNSURE

Please review the permission slip that was signed
