Introduction to Engineering Design has three components,

Design Thinking:                  Blogs and dialogues about topics in design. 30%
Design Experience:              Two sequential projects: P1 (7 weeks), P2 (8 weeks) 40% and projects in SW
Design Skills:    
        CAD & Sketching           The draw & model anything tool kit; Solid Modeling (Solid Works), Arch. Layout (SketchUp),
                                            3D printing, and Manual Sketching (ungraded). 30 %
        Cloud Computing            Using Google Sites & Docs and creating a portfolio and blog. Angel is only used for grades.
        Miscellaneous                Mindmaps, on-line surveys, flow charts, ... as needed

Assessment:                         Design thinking is assessed through student blogs. Experience and skills are both
                                            assessed primarily through projects. There are no exams except a test in SW.

Course Parameters
6 Hours in class 3 hours out of class provides team meeting times in class
Flipped classroom with a lot of control moved to the students: learning by doing: blogging, approaches to design projects, learning CAD at their own pace.
