We are excited to announce that this school year ALL students will participate in the NaliniKids social emotional learning program here at PS 66!  This is a wellness program aimed at developing emotional and physical health of children.  It teaches children to identify and express their emotions through emotional literacy. The program also uses a set of physical workouts to help the children build strength while making the connection between their physical and emotional lives.

Our Character Trait of the Month program has begun!  Each month one student will be selected as Student of the Month.  This student not only has shown exceptional effort but has also been a role-model of that character trait.

September:  Responsibility
October:  Courage
November:  Gratitude
December:  Cooperation
January:  Citizenship
February:  Respect
March: Kindness
April:  Perseverance
May:  Self-Discipline
June:  Honesty

Teachers will conduct lessons in the classroom to teach students ways to show good character each and every day.  Also, during morning announcements students will hear how they can show that trait toward their family, friends and community.  It is a great positive way to start the day!

September is Attendance Awareness Month!  Be sure to be in school promptly at 8:00 am each day! Please see the memos on what constitutes keeping your child home sick.  Every day a child misses school, they miss out on valuable instruction!  Please plan family vacations and doctor appointments when school is not in session. Good habits start now!

Attention Fifth Grade Parents,

As the school counselor, I will be the one to assist you in figuring out what middle school your child will attend next year.  I know it is only September but middle school application season is already approaching!  In October, I will host a workshop for all fifth grade parents to discuss the entire process.  A memo will be sent home with more information when the time gets closer.

Please click on the fifth grade parent page for up to date news.  Also, click on Resources to download memos I send home.

Thank you,

Mrs. Panetta
