Roosevelt Gives Back

By Maggie Martin

Roosevelt 5th grader

On August 25-September 3, 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit south Texas.  Hurricane Harvey is one of the most deadly and the costly storms ever.  The Roosevelt Leadership Club did a community project for Hurricane Harvey.  We challenged every student to bring at least one dollar because houses, stores, hotels, and many other things were destroyed and some people even got injured.

My role was to make a poster and to give a reminder to my classmates at the Friday morning assemble.  Reese and Lily made flyers to send out to the whole school for a reminder.  Nate and Kaden also made posters to put all around the school.  Hallee also said a reminder in the morning announcements.  Addison, Reese, Chloe, Cody and I gave a reminder and some facts about Hurricane Harvey at the Friday morning assembly.  We raised over $800.  Way to go Roosevelt!
