Cherokee Grant to the Consumer Sciences Department and PJH Family
The PJH Family and Consumer Sciences Department received a Cherokee Nation grant for $1000 to purchase a hydroponic classroom lab. Learners used knife skills to learn to cut fresh basil with the proper techniques as well as tasting a variety of lettuces grown in the classroom. Madi Huber stated "During the hydroponic lab activities, I have learned that there is more than one way of growing things. I have enjoyed watching sprouts come up considering we aren't using any soil. It is so cool to see plants grow and change with the hydroponic lab. The way of gardening is definitely my favorite way to garden."
