academic affiliations & projects

I'm constantly in one role or another, variously as a student, researcher, professor, administrator, or general gadfly. Here's my mix of experience and interests:

  • Stanford LEAD + Master of Liberal Arts Program [Student]In 2020 I joined an online graduate certificate program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, called Stanford LEAD. This is an update to my dusty 28-years-ago business education. In addition, I'm really excited about the part-time Master of Liberal Arts program, which I'm starting in Fall 2020. This is a five-year program with full access to Stanford facilities; basically, keys to a candy store. This will be the center of my academic interests until 2025.
  • University of Colorado at Boulder [Professor/Administrator].  From 2004 to 2016 I was involved with the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder in various capacities. From 2005-2008 I was appointed as Associate Director, then Director of the program and was the program's chief academic officer, responsible for general oversight of admissions, administration, curricular development, oversight of over 17 adjunct faculty and general budget management for $1.5m in tuition revenue.  From 2008 to 2016 I taught various courses in the program (and cross-listed with the law school): International Business Law, Standardization and Standards Wars, Seminar, Capstone.
  • Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium [Researcher]. In 2012 I was invited to join KU Leuven (Belgium) as a Senior Affiliated Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law & ICT. Previously, from 2002 - 2004, I was a lecturer and fellow at ICRI during the period that I completed my Ph.D. studies, and in 2008 I returned to lecture through Leuven's Global Law School Program, and currently maintain an affiliation as Senior Affiliated Researcher.  My dissertation advisor was Professor Jos Dumortier.
  • Universität St.Gallen, Switzerland [Student]. In 2005 and 2007 I lectured wireless telecommunications for the Universität St.Gallen. This is where I previously received an Executive Master of European and International Business Law.
  • International Telecommunications Education and Research Association [Administrator]. From 2005 to 2008, I was a Board Member of the International Telecommunications Education and Research Association (ITERA), an organization which promotes the academic discipline of telecommunications.
