Digital Literacy

Digital literacy: preparing our students to use technology to compose ideas, research information, communicate, create, and collaborate.  Part of our Catholic mission is the creation of environments where learners flourish.  Wireless in all classrooms, 1:1 mobile devices in students' hands, and a Google Apps account for all staff and students, means that learning in our classrooms can be full of hope and life.  Our learners have a voice and we want to hear them.

In 2012 all staff and students of St Catherine's Catholic College were introduced to Google Apps for Education which provides access to web-based tools to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations and websites.  In 2013, students in Years 7 and 8 launched the 1:1 device program using Chromebooks. This year all of our students in Year 5 to Year 9 are participating in the 1:1 with Chromebooks program.  The Chromebooks will support our students and staff to fully utilise the Google Apps for Education resources, enhancing student educational outcomes.
