We Heart V-Day!

posted Feb 12, 2018, 2:04 PM by Teri Young   [ updated Feb 12, 2018, 2:06 PM ]

The Early Years students worked hard to plan this years Valentine's Day Spirit Week!
To start it off, three students planned and prepared three different activities for the whole school to enjoy.

Check out what else this week has in store for the Ste. Marie School by viewing the Google Document below.
Unpuzzle My Heart

The Grade 1-3 students spent a portion of the morning hiding pieces of heart puzzles around the school. Then, all students in grades K to 8 were put into groups of 2-3, and given the task of finding their groups assigned hidden heart puzzle pieces. Few groups completed this task, which means that the Early Years students were successful in making this a challenging activity for all ages!

Find the template for the Unpuzzle My Heart activity below.

Heart Toss

While groups were frantically searching high and low for their puzzle pieces in Unpuzzle My Heart, the rest of the students played Heart Toss. This game is played like the basketball game BUMP.

February is "I Love to Read" month! This year, the students and staff of Ste. Marie School will be participating / engaging in a mixed grouping half hour reading / writing activity for everyday in February. Today was our first day to kick off the activities.

Want to see what the rest of our "I Love to Read" activities are? Check out the Google Doc. linked below!

I Love To Read 2018

To follow up this activity, the students shared their short stories, based on their assign setting, with the rest of the class. After each presentation, the creator of the setting share their vision / story with everyone! It was interesting to see the differences in ideas between the groups of students.

Ste. Marie Remembers

posted Nov 9, 2017, 11:04 AM by Teri Young

The Ste. Marie students and staff gathered today for our Remembrance Day service. We stood for two minutes of silence, each grade level shared a poem, or their personal thoughts on Remembrance Day, and the importance of this day in history, and we ended with a brief video posted by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #3.
