Important Notice regarding School Work

In an effort to help students continue with their learning during this period of uncertainty, staff at Nellie McClung Collegiate have been working hard to put together and organize packages of work for their students to complete in order to help minimize this disruption caused by the Coronavirus Outbreak.

In addition to the work sent home today in their work portfolios, staff would also like to remind students and parents about the importance of staying connected with your teachers. Emailing and the use of various Apps. like Google Classroom are various ways your son/daughter can stay connected.

Finally, if your son/daughter has been absent, their work and materials can be picked up today or tomorrow between the hours of 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.  We are asking parents and/or students to come to the door and wait outside for a staff member to get the work needed.  There will be no other arrangements made, as we are also trying to limit our contact and the contact of students in our building with outside influences.

Some important points to remember during this period:

1.       The staff of NMC are taking this situation very serious and are making every attempt to help your son/daughter continue with their learning.

2.       Staff is providing a way for your son/daughter to connect with them either through emailing, Google Classroom or by phone.

3.       The work sent home is expected to be worked on and completed.  This is not optional.

4.       Parents, we are asking you to insure that you set aside the time during the day (similar to what they would be doing at school) to work on the packages provided.  As a staff we would recommend setting your son/daughter up in a workable space to limit distractions and set times similar to the regular school day.

5.       If your son/daughter happens to have a question, we would encourage parents to get involved and help guide them through any issues that may arise.

6.       If your son/daughter requires assistance from their teachers, please contact your teacher directly using the suggested means of communication outlined by your teachers.  We are asking parents/students not to contact the office and Mrs. Weeks or Mr. Nakonechny, as we need to keep these lines open for updates and emergencies.

7.       Communicating Student Learning:  Report Cards and Parent/Teacher Interviews are not scheduled for March 27/2020 at Nellie McClung Collegiate.  Parent/Teacher Interviews are scheduled for April 24/2020.  Parents will be notified if this date changes.
