The company Autonomy is being bought by Hewlett Packard for 10.3 billion Dollars.
HP will use it to enhance their business services. They have not mentioned anything about the other personal uses for which Autonomy technology is ideally suited.

Don't forget, it already understands the data - all it is doing is retrieving what matches what you ask - also don't forget, it understands what you are saying. Doesn't it make more sense for a bit of technology to understand what you are asking of it rather than you having to learn how to program it in order that you get the right answers.
Autonomy came out with a trial piece of software in early 2,00? which was called Kenjin. It was supposed to be a 'thinking' version of Google Desktop - I don't know how it came about but I was searching for something that would prove this and decided to search for docs that had similar emotions - Kenjin came up with 2 seemingly dissimilar docs, an email and a bit of personal writing. I read both of them a number of times but didn't see why they had come up together... then it dawned on me. Both bits of text were sad. The email didn't mention the word sad but was about a sad experience someone had had. The doc was about breaking up with someone. I worked out that because of the core workings of Autonomy technology It was possible to easily build a set-up that would be useful to a man who loses vast swathes of memories every time he has a Grand Mal epileptic fit. I wanted this kit for listening to the World on my behalf. And for understanding the World when I couldn't. And for coordinating what needs to be done when I am lost in my illness. And for finding help when I really do need it. And for stopping me from getting screwed over / taken for a ride / dishonestly treated when I am ill or just having a bad day....
Autonomy technology is basically very high level programming - software - it costs as much as it does because of intellectual property rights, which I presume HP bought along with the company...
So, if HP bought Autonomy in order to use its tools as part of its business portfolio then it means that the whole side of use which could help so many people in everyday life, the side I have talked on and on about for years now, is sitting doing nothing. Surely HP could allow 'us' to build a prototype and see if it works like I think it will.
