Students will read through the chapter and Identify the importance of human development, commonalities, and climate changes. Using the handouts, they will participate in making notes and discussing how we have cultural practices that continue to influence us. Assignment Summary in handouts.
Students will form tribes and start with a small bowl containing 2 of each fruit and 2 nuts. 1 tribe at random will be the Farmer tribe and begin with double the supply. In Haggar, the dice represent your life. The white die is the action, and the coloured die is the consequence. Each time you hunt or gather you will have to roll the dice to learn the actions and consequences of your choice. Often you will need your tribe to bring you a specific berry or a few nuts to mend your wounds. But sometimes fortune smiles and you gain extra fruit and nuts. You are preparing for winter. Gather as many nuts and fruits to store up. You can also go hunting, but that comes at a cost of protein. You must give 1 nut to fish or shoot. Then roll the dice because hunting has consequences for your actions. If you reel in a fish or knock a ping pong ball you will be rewarded with a hefty chocolate egg. The tribe that survives to the end will have their bowl weighed. Whichever bowl is the heaviest will win the spoils! Handouts
