(2-Year Program of Study)

Introduction to Business

Every career in this world IS a BUSINESS; therefore; the more students know about business, the greater their understanding will be of how the business world works.  This class is for students interested in business and have a desire to understand how business works in today's global economy.  This course prepares students with basic business knowledge and technical skills that will be used regularly throughout their lives.  Career development, including critical workplace skills, and life beyond graduation are emphasized.  This course will provide students with practical business applications by using hands-on projects that will give students the opportunity to acquire basic skills using Microsoft Office Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.

Advanced Business Management

Business Management is the process of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling human and other organizational resources in order to effectively achieve organizational goals.

This course has been designed to present students two parallel management approaches—1) maximizing productivity, profitability, competitiveness, and other “bottom-line” values. 2) achieving a balance among multiple forms of well-being (e.g., material, physical, social, ecological, intellectual, aesthetic)—it’s not always just about the money!  This course will not only provide students with the understanding and knowledge or real-world management policies and procedures, but to also provide students the following benefits:

  • Create job opportunities by allowing students to develop the conceptual skills (ability to think about complex and broad organizational issues) needed to be a successful managers.
  • Aid students’ understanding of how various organization are managed, thus allowing students the opportunity to focus on work-related duties instead of spending time and energy trying to figure out the work environment and how it functions.

Throughout the course, students will use the information and skills they acquire to research and write a comprehensive Business Plan.  Students will develop skills in business communication, problem solving, team work, organization, economic, and financial principles.

Advanced Business Management students are considered “Dual Enrolled” students with Yavapai College (YC) and receive FREE college credits after completing this course successfully with a grade of ‘C’ or better.  Introduction to Business students may receive free YC credits if they attend YC within 2 years of graduation and complete the class with a grade of ‘C’ or better.  BMAS 1 YC credits are considered “Articulated” credits.
