3-Year Program of Study

Automotive Technology Core Curriculum
Grades: 10 – 12. Fee: None. Credit: 1.0 CTE/elective. Duration: 1 Year. Students may be awarded Articulated or Dual Enrollment credit (credits vary from year to year) at Yavapai College. Class Limit: 28 students

This is the first course in the Automotive Technology Sequence and will prepare the student to apply the basic auto skills with a deeper instruction into the areas of: brake systems, electric/electronic systems, steering and suspension systems and engine performance diagnosis and repair. This course may be awarded Tech Prep or Dual Enrollment credit at Yavapai College, Glendale Community College, and Universal Technical Institute.

Automotive Repair 1
Grades: 11 – 12. Fee: None. Credit: 1.0 CTE/elective. Duration: 1 Year. Students may be awarded Articulated or Dual Enrollment credit (credits vary from year to year) at Yavapai College. Prerequisite: Automotive Technology Core Curriculum. Class Limit: 28 students

This is the second course in the Automotive Technology Sequence. This course will prepare students to apply higher levels of technical knowledge and skills to maintain, diagnose and repair automobiles and light trucks. Students will gain in-depth knowledge needed to troubleshoot and identify malfunctioning components and sensors; and correct these problems in four areas: brake systems, electrical/electronic systems, steering and suspension systems, and engine performance analysis. This course may be awarded Tech Prep and Dual Enrollment credit at Yavapai College, Glendale Community College, and Universal Technical Institute.

Automotive Repair 2
Grades: 11 – 12. Fee: None. Credit: 1.0 CTE/elective. Duration: 1 Year. Students may be awarded Articulated or Dual Enrollment credit (credits vary from year to year) at Yavapai College. Prerequisite: Automotive Repair 1 AND Teacher approval. Class Limit: 28 students

Auto Body/Collision Repair 1
Grades: 11 – 12. Fee: None. Credit: 2.0 CTE/elective. Duration: 1 Year. Students may be awarded Articulated credit (credits vary from year to year) at Yavapai College. Prerequisite: Automotive Technology Core Curriculum, Automotive Repair 1, Automotive Repair 2 AND Teacher approval. Class Limit: 28 students

Introduction to auto body repair, including basic fabrication and painting. Emphasis is placed on nonstructural body repair, filling, sanding primers, and spraying techniques.
