Wiegand verbals to University of South Dakota

She is the daughter of Sherry and Jim Wiegand.

(MATTOON) Ally Wiegand, junior at Tri-Valley High School and a player for the Premier Fastpitch Softball 16U Orange has verbally committed to continue her softball career at The University of South Dakota. Wiegand is a pitcher and as a sophomore earned Illinois Coaches Association Second Team All-State, Unanimous First Team All-Conference Pitcher; Led the Pantagraph Bloomington Normal Area in Strikeouts and ERA (2014); Pitched No-Hitter vs. Morton Struck out 11 of 21 batters (April 19th, 2014); Pitched Perfect Game vs. Fisher Struck out 16 of 21 batters (May 6th, 2014); Pitched Perfect Game vs. GCMS Struck out 17 of 18 batters (April 7, 2014)

Wiegand’s high school team, the Lady Vikings posted a 25-5 record. She is coached in high school by Emily Starkey and will graduate in 2016. Wiegand hit .487 with 22 RBIs and four home runs. As a pitcher, she was 16-3, recorded only six walks, 54 hits and 283 strikeouts in 134.2 innings. Her ERA was .624.

The University of South Dakota is a NCAA Division I School that competes in the Summit League.

Wiegand plays summer ball for Coach Denise Prather. The Premier Fastpitch 16U Orange qualified for ASA 16U Gold Nationals in Oklahoma and placed in the top eight at the Triple Crown Sports Sparkler Tournament in Colorado this year.
