Premier Orange wins 16U Division at the February Classic
The PF Orange team went 4-0 on the weekend with a 4-2 victory over Tinley Park Rockers on Friday and a 9-6 win over the Diamond Storm on Saturday. After a win in the semi-finals, PF Orange defeated the Hitting Center in the Championship contest for the tournament win.
In the Diamond Storm game, Ally Wiegand looked sharp on the mound. Diamond Storm 16u managed just two hits off of Wiegand, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out seven during her four innings of work.
The lead stayed with Premier Fastpitch Orange 16U after the first, when it scored one run on a single.
Premier Fastpitch Orange 16U scored six runs in the third, keyed by a three-run blast off the bat of Sophie Catlin.
Five runs in the bottom of the third helped Diamond Storm 16u close its deficit to 7-5. An RBI single by Stoller and a home run by McCrory fueled Diamond Storm 16u's comeback. But, Ally got Rogers to fly out to end the inning.
Premier Fastpitch Orange 16U increased its lead with two runs in the fourth. Mycaela Millerkicked things off with a single, plating Amber Tabeling. That was followed up by A Apke's double, scoring Mycaela.
After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fourth, Diamond Storm 16u faced just a 9-6 deficit. A solo home run by LeChaller set off Diamond Storm 16u rally. Premier Fastpitch Orange 16U stopped the rally after Ally got Noos to strike out.
Lexie Black went 2-3, sparking Premier Fastpitch Black 16U to a 6-1 victory in six innings over Illinois Force in the 18U February Classic at the Avanti Dome in Pekin on Sunday. She singled in the third and fifth innings.
Illinois Force couldn't get anything going as long as Kaylea Chappelle was on the mound. Illinois Force managed just two hits off of the Premier Fastpitch Black 16U's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out three during her six innings of work.
Illinois Force scored its only run of the game on an RBI double by #9 in the first inning.
The lead stayed with Premier Fastpitch Black 16U after the third, when it scored three runs on an RBI single by Lexie.
Premier Fastpitch Black 16U added three more runs in the top of the fifth. Lexie singled, scoring Allison Apke to start the inning.
