Premier Fastpitch Paulson Places 9th at Prestigious PGF California Tournament

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA – Premier Fastpitch Paulson 2001, a 16-and-under team based in Mattoon placed ninth in the Premier Girls Fastpitch Tournament in Huntington Beach, CA on Friday. It is the premier level of fastpitch in the nation. In the Premier 16U division, 76 teams competed in the week-long event played at the Fountain Valley Complex. A total of 285 teams competed in the 14U and 16U, Premier and Platinum divisions during the second week of the PGF National Championships.

PF Paulson went 1-2 in pool play. On Sunday, PF Paulson beat The Factory (CA), 5-0, and fell 3-1 to Indiana Magic Gold Rudd. A 4-0 loss to Impact Gold-Jazz (TX) on Monday.

Brooke Tuttle from went 4-4 in a 11-2 win over American Athletics SA Virchis (CA) to start bracket play on Tuesday. Dayna Kennedy, Kynzie Wrigley, Cami Newbanks (2) and Madison Hendrix each had doubles. On Wednesday, PF Paulson defeated LTG (CA) 5-4. Wrigley went 2-3 at the plate with three RBI.

On Thursday, Madi Eberle pitched a shutout in a 1-0 victory against Prospex Gold (AL). PF Paulson fell to Birmingham Thunderbolts (AL) 9-1.

PF Paulson battled Demarini Aces on Friday but fell 8-5. Jill Anderson, Hendrix, Newbanks, and Zoie Bowman each managed multiple hits. Anderson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team.
