Catlin commits to Parkland College

(MATTOON) Sophie Catlin, senior at Monticello High School and a player for the Premier Fastpitch Softball 18U Orange has verbally committed to Parkland College in Champaign. Catlin plays summer ball for Coach Denise Prather. The Premier Fastpitch 16U Orange finished 17th at the ASA 16U Gold Nationals in Oklahoma and placed in the top eight at the Triple Crown Sports Sparkler Tournament in Colorado this past summer.

Catlin is a pitcher and plays first base for Coach Courtney Hoffman at Monticello. The Sages placed third at the IHSA Class 2A State Tournament in 2014. Catlin hit .327 with five homeruns, eight doubles and 31 RBIs as a junior for the Sages. She received Second Team All-Okaw Valley Conference honors.

Parkland is a NCJAA Division II School, that has three NJCAA National Runners-up Places and has finished in the top 10 eight times. The most recent, a Third Place finish in 2012.

Catlin is a scholar athlete, a high honors student and a member of the National Honor Society. She is to graduate in May 2015.

She is the daughter of Donna and Steve Catlin.
